COLOUR = VIBE. So what’s yours saying?

Let’s talk about COLOUR.

Not in a ‘what’s your brand palette’ kind of way. More like… what colour feels like you?

Colour carries energy. It’s a shortcut to your vibe.

So your favourite colour - the one you're always drawn to - isn’t random. It’s a visual connection to your energy, your personality… and ultimately, your voice.

Side note: I’ve been thinking A LOT about colour lately because we just finished a bathroom renovation, which means I’ve spent an unreasonable amount of time staring at tile samples, paint sticks, and towels. So. Many. Towels.

And here’s what I’ve learned about myself: I love light spaces with pops of happy brightness.

Think: soft white walls and a framed print of a tree covered in bright orange leaves

🛁🧡 Side note: I love my new bathroom so much. It makes my heart sing.

Anyhoo…

Time for a quick gut check: What’s your colour?

(No cheating by overthinking what’s “on trend” or what a graphic designer picked for your website!)

And don’t get your knickers in a knot if you love more than one. We all do.

But if it came down to a Sophie’s choice moment - like me in the towel aisle at Winners - what colour are you grabbing?

Have you picked one?… Excellent!

Now let’s get deep and meaningful:

What does that colour feel like? Calm and grounded? Bold and adventurous? Warm and welcoming?

Even if you say “blue” - is it ocean blue? Navy? That electric Crayola blue that practically hums?

Those little details? They matter.

Because your voice isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s the energy you bring to the table.
And that energy shows up in everything - including your favourite colour.

💭 Reflective Question: If your favourite colour (and colour palette) could talk, what would it say about you?

Would it say: “I’m calm and collected”? Or “I’m bold and fearless”? Or “I’m playful, creative, and just a little chaotic”?

Not sure what your colour says about you? Here’s a fun (and totally non-scientific) cheat sheet to play with:

  • Soft neutrals (creams, greys, taupes): Calm, grounded, thoughtful
  • Beachy blues + sandy tans: Easygoing, reliable, intuitive
  • Jewel tones (emerald, sapphire, ruby): Bold, confident, unapologetic
  • Pastels (lavender, mint, peach): Nurturing, creative, gentle
  • Brights (primary colours, crayon-box vibes): Energetic, playful, expressive
  • Monochrome (black, white, greyscale): Minimalist, modern, quietly powerful

Cool Quote

"Colour is a power which directly influences the soul."

Something To Try

🎉Let’s find a fresh way to bring your favourite colour into your work world! No full rebrand required - just a little vibe shift.

Remember: This isn’t about marketing. It’s about bringing the colour that resonates most with you into your professional space - so you feel the good vibes and actually enjoy showing up.

And no, it doesn’t have to break the bank (or involve an interior designer or a DIY day spent painting your walls).

Think small and simple, like:

  • Buying yourself a new coffee mug in your go-to hue (bonus points if it has a sarcastic phrase on it)
  • Framing a photo or art print in your colour - and giving it a spot where you’ll actually see it
  • Swapping your blah pen for one that’s so you (Yes, I write with sparkly children’s gel pens. And yes, it always makes me smile).

Why bother with this nonsense, you ask?

Because small visual cues boost your mood and help keep your energy aligned with you.

This isn’t about decorating. It’s about staying rooted in your personality while you work.

And sure - maybe one day (soon-ish) you’ll update those website colours or spring for a new batch of brand photos.

But for now? A beautiful coffee mug is a perfectly reasonable place to start.

Stuff Worth Sharing

Speaking of colours...

Starting next week, I’m taking a class at the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design (NSCAD): 🎨 Painting with Watercolours. VERY outside my comfort zone, but I can't wait to dive in!

Last year, I learned how to knit. Well… sort of. There's still a half-made hat stuffed in the drawer of my coffee table. But hey - the point is, I tried.

I’ve had better luck with art classes. So far, I’ve taken two drawing classes and one in acrylic painting. And while my work probably won’t end up on a gallery wall, I am comfortable nailing a piece up in my spare bedroom.

That’s the thing. Playing with paint (and yarn) is FUN. And we could all use a little more fun in our lives… yes?

Personally, I love in-person classes, partly because they feel social, and partly because the NSCAD campus is right on the Halifax Harbour, so the view is ⛵️spectacular.

But no matter where you are in the world, you can still enjoy NSCAD art classes. They offer a generous selection online:

For the Word Nerds: Resonate

Resonate is one of my favourite words.

It comes from the Latin resonare, meaning “to sound again.” Originally, it described literal vibrations, like the echo of a bell or the hum of a tuning fork. These days, we use it to describe a deeper kind of connection. Emotional. Intellectual. Even energetic.

To resonate is to connect. Not loudly. Not in a big, show-off-y kind of way.

But deeply... with gravitas.

And honestly? In a world that keeps telling us to stand out or rise above the noise, I think resonating is the better goal.

Because when your personality, your authority, and your expertise resonate with people, you earn respect. You’re remembered. And you build TRUST, which is the most priceless commodity in any profession.

Thanks for your time. I appreciate it! See you again on May 7th. In the meantime:
